'HISTORY OF ART,' with a difference in that members are asked in turn to carry out some research into an artist or theme; either famous or less well known. Then each month one of the group will present an illustrated talk to the other members.

If you love ART, this is the group for you.

We have discussed the work of a variety of artists, and subjects. A small sample of such talks is illustrated below...

We are in our 5th year of meetings.

Each month a member of the group will investigate and talk about a subject to do with art; possibly the life and work of a famous artist, who may be world-renowned or even a local personality.

This year we have had a diversity of subjects presented: Looting in the Art World, Gustav Klimt (see here The Kiss), Tamara de Lempicka (see here Young Lady with Gloves), The Sistine Chapel, and most recently Masayo gave a fascinating talk on the Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi.

Members’ talks always provoke interesting discussion, and we find we are better equipped to appreciate art in galleries from Hauser and Wirth to The Louvre and beyond.
