Synopsis:
Discover the extraordinary life of Vice-Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) through period paintings, drawings and prints.
Nelson was a charismatic and complex character who died prematurely on the deck of HMS Victory at the age of just 47. Although admired by his men afloat, who saw him as an inspirational leader, he was lampooned ashore for his relationship with Lady Emma Hamilton.

Following his wonderful talk last year on 'Robert FitzRoy's second voyage as commander of HMS Beagle,' we are delighted to welcome James back to Camelot Area u3a, where this time he will talk to us about the life of another seafaring legend, the iconic Lord Nelson.
James is a former specialist of Victorian paintings at Phillips Fine Art Auctioneers and a curator of paintings, drawings and prints, exhibition organiser, lecturer and author at the National Maritime Museum Greenwich.
