Our group is aimed at those erstwhile keen walkers who find that nowadays it is difficult to manage a longer walk. We meet at a designated pub to park and hand in our lunch menu choices, prior to setting out on our walk.
We are a new group and welcome new members. Enquiries to 'Group Contact' email.
Valentine's Day Walk
Having cancelled our January walk due to adverse weather conditions, we were relieved to catch one of the rare dry mornings for our Valentine's Day walk. We enjoyed all the snowdrops and catkins enroute from the Camelot Inn in South Cadbury to the delightful little church in Compton Pauncefoot with its unusual commemorative window.

Inaugural Walk:
Eleven of us met Castle Cary on Friday 8th November for the first of our short walks. We had booked a table at The George Hotel and so first called there to submit our lunch orders before embarking on a slow climb up Lodge Hill. Unfortunately, the cloud stubbornly remained low, so we weren't able to appreciate the distant views, but it was still pleasant to look down on the site of the old castle and town below. Then it was dawnhill or flat all the way, even the cows were remarkably quiet and unperturbed by our presence.
Having covered about 3.3 miles, we repaired to the George where we were joined for lunch by other former walkers. A successful first venture will be followed, we hope, by another on the 13th December.
